Parking at the Port of Palm Beach

The port runs its own secured cruise parking lot. Here is what the port’s parking information page says, in plain English:

  • Self-parking is charged per day, counting both your arrival day and your return day.
  • VIP parking costs a little more per day, is first-come, first-served and cannot be guaranteed.
  • Payment is by credit card only — American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover. No cash.
  • No prepaid or reserved parking is offered at present.
  • Vans, RVs, buses and trailers pay the daily rate for every space they use.
  • Security: the lot is secured and patrolled 24 hours a day, with cameras.
  • Walkway: use the marked pedestrian walkway between the lot and the terminal.

Rates change, so we do not print them here — check the port’s page for today’s figures. Valet parking has been suspended during construction; attendants direct you to self-parking.

Flying In: Palm Beach International Airport (PBI)

PBI is the closest airport to the port and is much easier to navigate than Miami International. Taxis and rideshare are the simplest way from the airport to a hotel or the terminal. Fort Lauderdale (FLL) is a reasonable alternative with more flights, but plan on a longer road transfer.

Our firm advice: fly in the day before. The terminal doors close at 3:00 p.m., and a single delayed or cancelled flight can mean missing the ship. If you need a hotel, see RoomsCheap; for flights, AirfaresForLess.

By Train: Brightline and Tri-Rail

Brightline’s West Palm Beach station is in downtown West Palm Beach, with service along the coast to Fort Lauderdale and Miami and north to Orlando. Tri-Rail commuter trains also serve West Palm Beach. Neither goes to the port itself, so plan a taxi or rideshare for the last few miles. Train is a good option for South Florida or Orlando-area cruisers who would rather not leave a car parked for several days.

Parking Questions

Can I prepay cruise parking at the Port of Palm Beach?

Not at the time of writing. The port says it does not currently offer prepaid parking; you pay at the lot by credit card.

Do I pay for the day I leave and the day I return?

Yes. The port charges self-parking per day including both the day of arrival and the day of departure, so a three-night cruise is billed as four days.

Is there free parking for disabled veterans?

The port waives the fee for qualifying vehicles: those with a Florida Disabled Veteran plate (or an official DV plate from another state), a Florida Toll Exemption Permit, or special equipment such as ramps, lifts or hand controls. Attendants will not waive fees for other reasons.
